Instant Vortex Plus air fryer — Benchtest fixture image

Instant Vortex Plus Review: Weeknight Cooking, Handled

An air fryer earns its counter space by being faster than the oven and easier than the stove, and the Vortex Plus clears that bar most nights of the week.

Frozen fries come out properly crisp in twelve minutes. Chicken thighs take twenty-five and keep their skin. The basket is big enough for a family side dish, the controls are readable without a manual, and everything that touches food goes in the dishwasher.

The misses are small but real. The fan is loud enough to pause a conversation, the preheat is slower than rivals, and the crisper plate likes to dump crumbs when you shake the basket.

Verdict: 4 out of 5. Not the quietest fryer we have tested, but the one that gets used.
